Holds Camera Gear and Laptop

The Evolution 8 is perfect for a DSLR with up to an 8″ lens attached, several additional lenses, and a flash.  A foam-padded pocket in the back holds most 15.6″ screen laptops (up to 15″ x 10¼” x 1½” in size).

Three Ways to Access Gear View

Photo gear can be accessed three different ways – through either side door when the pack is still worn over one shoulder or through the front door panel when the pack is removed.

Three Ways to Carry View

With their unique harness system, the Evolution backpacks can be carried three different ways – as a backpack or as a sling pack using a single strap worn over the right or left shoulder.

Convert From Backpack to a Sling Pack

To convert to a sling pack, simply cross-connect a single shoulder strap (red to red for carrying on the right shoulder or blue to blue for carrying on the left shoulder).  The other shoulder strap is easily tucked away in Tamrac’s Tuck-A-Way™ harness system.

Foam-Padded Top Compartment View

A foam-padded top compartment provides storage for a light jacket, lunch, or other photo accessories.  A mesh pocket in the back keeps small accessories separate and secure, while a Windowpane-Mesh™ pocket on the inside door panel holds additional small items.

QuickClip™ Tripod Attachment System View

A tripod is cradled (centered and balanced) securely with Tamrac’s QuickClip™ tripod attachment system while the lower Tripod Foot Pocket holds two tripod legs secure.

Side Pockets and Rain Cover View

Each side has a zipper-closing pocket for accessories like a phone or iPod. The right pocket contains a removable rain cover, which can be slipped over the pack during extreme weather.

  • Looks like a winner By Kevin Maciunas

I’ve always walked with a pack, and have always had the problem of fitting in my camera gear into a “walking” pack.

    Until now.

I bought this to accomodate the gear I take when walking – D7100 with an L-bracket and Sigma 17-70 Zoom attached, a 70-300 zoom and a 90mm macro lens; associated paraphenalia and a Vanguard alta pro tripod. All the photo gear fits with enough room to throw in a couple of flashes too or another couple of lenses.

The top compartment is a bit marginal for me – enough space (just) for some water and food. Slightly bigger would be better :)

The tripod mount is also a little on the small side for a proper sized tripod – making the foot pocket bigger and/or deeper would let the bigger tripod sit a little lower. But it does fit.

The harness sits comfortably but could benefit from a bit of an airgap – but this is problematic since the straps tuck into the padding – which is a superb idea when flying.

I would like to see the sternum strap have a tuck-away pocket built into the straps – that and a slightly larger tripod pocket are about the only two changes that’d turn this from a just about perfect bag to a perfect bag.

So nice to use a properly designed and engineered product. I really recommend this.

  • Wouldn't be without it By Ellie

Having tried several other brands to carry DSLR + lenses, laptop, etc this has been the best. Comfortable to carry and lots of space, including all the pockets for cards, remote, filters…..
    Simply the best!
