Top 10 Coolest Photo Gear to Come Out of CES 2016

January 12, 2016

CES always produces a barrage of new developments, fun toys, and future tech.  We sifted through the hype to bring your our top ten favorites in photo-related gear.

Parrot Disco Drone

In an increasingly saturated drone market, Parrot unveiled the lightweight Disco drone capable of flying at speeds up to 50 MPH for 45 minutes and shooting HD video with a 16 megapixel camera.

Nikon D5

Nikon's new flagship D5 is a full-frame, 20.8 megapixel pro camera that claims to be the pro shooters dream.  Complete with 153 auto focus points and 99 cross-sensors with continuous shooting at 12 fps, a 2.36 million-dot touchscreen LCD, dual memory card slots, 4K video recording, and more.

Nikon SB-5000 Flash

Alongside the announcement of their new flagship DSLR, Nikon also unveiled a new flash.  The SB-5000 Flash introduces radio triggers to Nikon's line of speed lights, capable of high-speed and TTL metering from afar.

Ricoh Theta + VR Sphere

Although the Ricoh Theta wasn't a new development at CES 216, the immersive experience that Ricoh used to showcase the Theta's abilities has us hoping that VR domes aren't too far removed from finding their place in homes across the globe.

Olympus M Zuiko Digital ED 300mm F4 IS Pro

The latest in Olympus' collection of high-end pro lenses promises to be an exceptional lens, promising up to six stops of shake reduction thanks to image stabilization that works with in-body stabilization.

Zeiss Lenses for iPhone

The thought of well-built Zeiss lenses for the iPhone is exciting, though the prohibitive price tag ($200-$300 per lens) and comparatively bulky nature of the lenses leaves some question as to how well they will be received by mobile-hybrid photographers.

4K resolution meets an immersive action camera experience, complete with a time-lapse mode and no stitching required.

Yuneec Typhoon H

Thanks to carbon fiber construction, a 4K camera to capture aerial footage, object tracking technology, and an aggressive price, Yuneec's new drone was one of the best new products out of CES 2016.

Nikon KeyMission 360 Action Cam

Here are a few of the limited things we know about Nikon's 360-degree VR camera; it's waterproof down to 100-feet, it's shock proof up to 6 feet, it uses two individual camera modules to capture a spherical image, and that it will be available late 2016.

Panasonic Lumix ZS100

Boasting a large one-inch sensor, 4K video, 20 megapixels, and an f/2.8 25-250mm zoom lens, the Lumix ZS100 is a feature rich compact camera that's perfect for travel and pocket-friendly.
