Outstanding shoulder bag. Great size and plenty of room. This bag works better than a backpack.
Great bag. Nice size. A shoulder bag is better than a backpack for me. Well done.
I just want to share this story with you guys.
Back in 1972 when I was 20. I bought a Tamrac Bag after much discernment if i could really justify the cost. My girlfriend at the time who is now my wife said to me look at what you are putting into it.I bought the bag. I was a working Photographer most of my life of which i used the bag non stop since the day I bought it. i just replaced it with a new bag due to the zipper failing. I'm now 65 years old my wife bought me a new bag for my birthday. I read the heritage info that came with the bag and on it it says Tamrac's Heritage Founded in 1977 making carrying solutions for forty years. Well it's now 45 years. The bags are the best that's why I replaced it with the same kind that lasted 45 years, sorry but is will be the last one I will need .
Thanks for the Heritage product.

In the 1990's my Olympus IS-1 was kept securely in a Tamrac bag. Just last year, I discovered that bag and the IS-1, and both had seen better days. Fast forward to my new Olympus OM-D EM-1 Mk III and I had the obligation to renew the Tamrac love affair. The Stratus 15 is a serious advancement from my old Tamrac. My lenses are professional level, and the protected compartmentation of the Stratus gives me a high degree of reassurance. The shoulder bag is well conceived with durable water-resistant CORDURA material that, based on Internet research, is proven to protect. The additional pouches are welcomed accessories and there are numerous ways to organize the Stratus. The "Professional" label that adorns the top of the Stratus spells it out best. The Stratus is a serious version of Tamrac quality the likes I have never seen.
Stratus 21
I have several older and larger Tamrac bags and Backpacks. The Stratus 8 holds my Lumix G9,100-400,8-18 and 12-60mm Leica lenses and loads of batteries , cards and accessories as well as a flash which is an amazing haul for a medium size bag. The quality is outstanding and the shoulder strap has enough padding to be comfortable and non slip. The dividers allow many ways to adjust the interior and allow set up of the camera in the top of the bag for quick access. The accessory bag is a significant bonus to hold batteries or extra items that need quick access without diving into the bag. The pass through on the back of the bag made it easy to move with my luggage in the airport and at the hotel and holds the Stratus firmly attached to any luggage handle. Great design to hold a full kit for fieldwork.
Stratus 10
The Stratus 10 is a awesome shoulder bag I like the new design of the bag specially the new metal clips it went from plastic to metal, the better shoulder bag on market.
The size allows me to use the "21" as BOTH a sizeable gear bag and an overnight bag-in-one. Love the build quality and handsome look which matches my Stratus 8.
I have always been a big fan of Tamrac bags.
I have bags from single camera carry to the Backpacks I wore while doing Wildlife photography so when this bag became available I was excited.
Here’s why I think it’s just ok.
- The placement of the shoulder straps don’t seem right. While wearing the bag on my shoulder it constantly wants to roll forward. This movement doesn’t allow for me to enter the bag while easily while manipulating my camera equipment.
- you can’t adjust the length of the cover straps so it can close properly [with more gear]. That limits how much I can [pack in it] which requires me to carry a second bag.
These are my personal disappointments and may not apply to anyone else.
As I mentioned, I AM a big fan of Tamrac bags and have used them for the past 40 years and hopefully for 40 years more.
This is the first bag I ever purchased from Tamrac that I don’t like at all…
I have three Tamracs. The "Expedition 8 backpack" for my Mama RZ67 camera and lenses, an older small "Superlight 44" and of course the "Stratus 8", in which I put my two Kodak Medalist cameras in. All are very well put together and sturdy. I would and will, highly recommend your products to others if they are looking for a great quality camera bag.
Stratus 15
Second Tamrac bag I've purchased. My first was way back in the early 80's, which I still have along with the camera. Anyhow, I've "outgrown" my current camera bag and was looking for something bigger to hold my additional lenses. Found the Stratus 8 on the site and it's perfect. Enough room to hold everything I have and a bit more. The price was excellent as well....I didn't want to pay too much for a bag.
Buckle for top cover flap design is kind of a pain to unsnap because buckle is fastened a bit tight against front pocket.
The Stratus 8 bag is a really nice camera bag and its easy to customize it to your individual needs. I have always used Tamrac bags and just like my previous bags its an high quality camera bag.
The Stratus 21 camera bag is Great!! I love the interior and the way that you can configure it for your needs. I got all of my camera equipment in the bag with a lot of room to spare. I can add new equipment as I get it. I can also carry my other 35mm camera in the same bag. Great bag that is built well!! Also a great value for the price of the camera bag.
This bag is really well made and very roomy but has one major flaw. There are plenty of dividers to keep my equipment well protected and space for everything I need plus a little extra. That is very nice but getting to that equipment might be an issue for some people. The two front clasps may be difficult for some people to open. They are attached right against the pockets and do not allow the user to easily and quickly open them. Basically, it is a poor clasp that was not attached to a strap that would make it easier to operate. I've had previous Tamrac bags and have always been more than satisfied but I am reluctant to unconditionally recommend this bag. This is not a terrible product but could be much better. If you are looking for a large bag you can consider this but also might want to check out alternatives. I'm a little disappointed with Tamrac this time.
The Stratus is perfect for my camera gear great features and outstanding quality.
Great equipment bag. Used to organize my gear which is then loaded into a backpack or messenger bag for a specific shoot.
Good quality case with tons of room. Plenty of partitions for customization!
I bought this holder from Amazon after 4 attempts at other products, I wanted something that could hold both a DSLR, lenses and accessories, plus my bridge camera and a few filters, this was exactly what I was looking for.
I’m amazed at just how much it can hold but, it’s not bulky. If I had a gripe, it’s a very small one and it’s only a personal observation, the side pockets is where I carry my batteries, I’d have liked these to have a zipper, rather than just Velcro to make the pockets a wee bit more secure, but as I said, that’s only my own opinion.
On the whole, I’m extremely happy with my Tamrac Status 15
Thank you.
I bought a Tamrac bag years ago for my Nikon D90. I recently just upgraded to a D850 and after a long search on Amazon for a new camera bag, I couldn’t find anything that was really working for me with MB-D18 battery grip. My new Stratus 15 is perfect fit. Three lenses and a flash. Thanks Tamrac!
I purchased 2 Stratus camera bags and I feel that they are as great as the Zoom Traveler camera bags that I bought many years ago. They are rugged have plenty of pockets but, my favorite is the Lens Bridge/Lens Gate set up. I was never into putting the camera in the camera bag lens down and with this camera bag, I can lay the camera in the camera bag with the with the bottom of the camera down.
So, I would recommend this camera bag to anyone who needs a high quality one with lots of places to put things.
I recently got the Stratus 21 from Tamrac and the Stratus 10 from another store. The Stratus 21 seems to be ideal for my Canon 6D MkII with an attached 24-70 zoom,17-40mm, 70-300mm, 85mm, 35mm, flash, and numerous accessories (batteries, charger, cables, filters etc. There is room for more-possibly even another camera body. The quality seems to be up to traditional Tamrac standards (great). The zippers work well- not weather sealed but the lid flap covers the zippers anyway. The bag is attractive in an understated all black design. It does scream "camera gear inside" as it is a traditional Tamrac gear bag. My only nit pic about this bag, is the absence of a rain cover. I'm not going hiking with this bag, so it isn't a big deal. I think this bag will work as a domestic carryon, but I'm not sure about it fitting in the overheads ( I think it will- it is similar in size to my Tenba Shootout, which did fit). Overall, a really nice bag for my purposes.
I love my tamrac status 615 shoulder bag and i carry my nikon d750 and 4 lenses with my flash, flash meter and other ods and ends. I have the stratus 608 and my wife carry's a stratus 608. Good job of protecting my equipment. I say thanx to tamrac for a nice bag.
As a long-time fan of Tamrac products I must say; Sadly, as a photographer, I am disappointed in the new Stratus line of Tamrac shoulder bags. They offer less pockets and pouches to put things in - the quality has dropped and the NO. system on the bags is dissipative! I still have the No. 12 and No. 8 bag from the Pro Series. By comparison, the Old Pro 8 bag is the same size and offers more pouches & pockets than the New Stratus 10, for half the price! - - - Having said this, I still believe Tamrac is the best product on the market but - is now - highly over priced! I hope they will consider bringing back the features that made the Tamrac Camera Bags so special for Photographers like me.
Good replacement bag, I am a serious amateur and like the room it provides. I bought a stratus 8.
My other bag is a TENBA, this bag looks as well built and thoughtfully designed. I don't know the purpose of the two loops on the outside of the bag. I like this bag and hope to get a lot of good use out of it.
Great product. This is my 14th bag and love them all. I have many different sizes for the occasion and these bags just do not wear out. I've tried others but none were as good as Tamrac!
great bag for my Hasselblads and lenses...very well made and everything in its place.
My wife just got me this bag for my birthday because I needed a larger bag. Perfect for everything I carry with room for more. I couldn't be happier.
I just got hands on Str. 21 and first thing what I've realised that bag is quite misbalanced because is "falling" towards front side. That's important for my job because is dynamic and I don't have a time to close the lead all the time, I just grab the bag for shoulder strap and change position to continue shooting. If I have to change lens I can not afford myself to open and close the bag each and every time. So it's crucial for bag to be good balanced otherwise I'm risking to brake my second camera or something else if fall out.
Laptop and some heavy things at front are not welcome in this bag because they will add some extra weight and more misbalance. Please check and try to do something with bag strap position which will solve this issue.
Per my opinion, bag should remain straight when empty, when is lifted for shoulder stripe or even if you plan to have pocket for laptop even to be leaned just a tiny little to backside.
Most of the time I'm using 70-200 mm lens on Canon camera with battery grip. You should check how many space you have to fit this camera in the bag. Maybe you should lower camera position for one inch optionally and give us a little bit more space for lens (U profile a little bit wider).
Pocket(s) from inside (on lead) per my opinion was much better on Pro 12. This one I can not use because camera is already over pressed with the lead so I cant fit anything in this big pocket.
I have been told that Stratus 21 its improved Pro 12 but now I have to use totally different logic to place things inside. This is not convenient because after many years is difficult to change habits and find what you need especially if is dark or you're in hurry. Professionals don't have a too much time for adaptation so it will be very appreciated if you follow our needs instead.
Quality of Stratus 21 I hope it will be same as Pro 12 which was the best camera bag ever.
Purchased this as a gift for my husband to replace a 25 year old Tamrac bag. This bag is quite different than his old one and he says he needs a larger bag so we will be returning this one while he looks locally for a hands on review of the larger model.
Bag is full of compartments, and well thought out. Many numerous velcro partitions to design and configure the bag to your own liking. Well made well stitched. Hope to have this a lifetime
